Dispatches, Latest API News|

Welcome to API-IPA’s new website, painstakingly and excellently crafted by Martina Gerbus at OMG Agency. Thanks, too, to our vice-president Catherine Feore for driving the relaunch of our web presence. It will enable us to provide the Brussels correspondents with better and more up-to-date information on our activities.

And let us remember poet and novelist Jan Taljaard, API’s former webmaster who passed away in May 2023 at his home with former API president Ann Cahill in Irsina, Italy. Jan, of course, lovingly cared for our previous website for many years. Terminally ill, with only days left, Jan downloaded our previous website and database, ensuring that we could continue our web presence without having to start all over again. We remember him fondly

The revitalized bilingual website comes at a crucial moment for API-IPA. Founded on 27 June 1975 to defend media freedom and the rights and independence of professional journalists, we today count as members around half of the 900 accredited foreign journalists in Brussels. This website will be an integral tool for us as a volunteer-driven organization in assisting and representing all correspondents in their dealings with international institutions and Belgian authorities.

Dafydd ab Iago, API president
Hans de Bruijn, API secretary-general
