The API Bureau consists of the API President (a European journalist accredited to EU institutions, non-Belgian, elected by the General assembly for a two year mandate, renewable once) two vice-presidents, a treasurer and a secretary general.

The API Bureau can meet at any time in case of need. The Council is subsequently informed of initiatives and steps that may eventually be taken. Former presidents who are still active in journalism and resident in Belgium can also be members of the Bureau.
