Did someone say that the two Pinos have actually retired? API can reveal that this is total fake news. We proudly announce that we have recruited both of them on a long term basis for our football team.
While Pino Anconetano (Pino A) seems to have been in secret talks since leaving the Council´s Press service last February, FC API managed to sign on Pino Fulvo (Pino F.) directly as he moved out of the Justus-Lipsius- and Europa-buildings on 30 June.
So both Pinos turned up for the annual Subsicup tournament in Woluwé-Saint-Pierre on 2 July as part of the FC API team which had not played a single game since the beginning of 2020. Unfortunately we don´t remember the scores of the three games we played – because there were so many goals against us.
But had Pino A. not made plenty of fantastic saves and Pino F. not given tactical directions in midfield and from outside the pitch...who knows what might have happened? The fact that FC API ended second in the tournament...from bottom among eight participating teams was made possible through a penalty saved splendidly by....Pino A..
Details of the contract between FC API and the two Pinos can unfortunately not be released – even not on the usual background basis. But both made clear that they intend to play in next year´s Subsicup again.
On a more serious note: Other FC API team members took the opportunity to thank Pino A. and Pino F. not only for their loyal services to the API football team, but to all Brussels based accredited journalists over so many years in and around the Council´s premises. We will miss you there, but not on the pitch!
Grazie mille e buona fortuna per i vostri ulteriori percorsi!
